JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A documentary that details Nov. 23, 2012 murder of 17-year-old Jacksonville teen Jordan Davis and the arrest and conviction of Michael Dunn in his murder will premiere on HBO on the third anniversary of the shooting death.

Director Marc Silver's film, "3 1/2 Minutes, Ten Bullets," debuts from 9 to 10:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 23, on the cable channel, and will also be available on HBO NOW and HBO GO.

The documentary details the exchange of angry words on that Thanksgiving Friday night at a Gate gas station on Southside Boulevard over the volume of the music coming from the Dodge Durango that Davis was seated in. Dunn, 48, fired 10 bullets into the Dodge full of teenagers, missing three teens inside but killing the 17-year-old Davis. Dunn fled, but was arrested the next day at his home in Brevard County. He claimed he shot in self-defense. After two trials last year, Dunn was sentenced to life in prison plus 90 years on Oct. 17, 2014. An appeal of the sentence was filed in August.

The documentary reconstructs the night of the murder and includes police interrogation footage, prison phone recordings between Dunn and his fiancé, who was at the scene of the shooting, and interviews with Jordan's friends. It also has footage from Dunn's trial and scenes of Davis' parents, all shot over 18 months beginning in summer 2013.

The documentary premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, where it won a Special Jury Award for Social Impact.
