JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two people were arrested Friday night following a routine traffic stop for a broken brake light. According to the police report, one of the men arrested was wanted for attempted murder in Jacksonville Beach.

The traffic stop occurred around 6:30 p.m. Friday night on the 2400 block of Biscayne Boulevard in northern Jacksonville. Malik Abdul Khalid Robinson, 18, and Adrian Lowery, 18 were arrested on separate charges.

Robinson was wanted for attempted murder in a Jacksonville Beach shooting that occurred in mid-March of this year. Robinson was identified by his Florida ID and promptly arrested. He is also being charged with possession of short-barreled shotgun.

Lowery, the driver of the vehicle, was arrested for possession of a short-barreled - police found a sawed-off shotgun and a handgun in his trunk - as well as possession of not more than 20 grams of marijuana and use or intent to use drug paraphernalia.

Reportedly, the arresting officer, coming upon the driver side window, was hit with the scent of freshly burnt marijuana. He asked Lowery out of the vehicle and caught him with a scale used for weighing marijuana. Lowery denied the scale was for marijuana, but JSO noticed marijuana flakes on the object.ID=26890987

Police also found a baggy of weed under the knit cap Lowery was wearing upon searching him. When JSO searched the vehicle, they found two weapons in the car's trunk.

Robinson, who was arrested without incident, allegedly shot a man in March after an argument on Seawalk Pavilion. Over a month later it ended up being a broken brake light that would lead police to the suspected shooter.

"He shot someone in a crowded area," said Commander Mark Evans with Jacksonville Beach Police at the time. "He should be considered armed and dangerous."

The 16-year-old that was shot and Robinson had begun to argue days before the actual shooting occurred, but it took days for the disagreement to culminate in violence. The juvenile was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the right thigh. Jacksonville Beach Police were on scene less than a minute after the shooting occurred.

Robinson's and Lowery's next court date is May 26 at 9:00 a.m. Lowery's bail is set at $40,009 and Robinson's bail is set at $290,009.
