GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Authorities in New Jersey have arrested a Jacksonville woman they say took packages from several homes and struck a law enforcement officer with her car over a two-day period, A release from Gloucester Township Police said.
Ebony Gomez, 31, was charged with charged with multiple counts of eluding, endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated assault against law enforcement and theft of movable property.
Officers responded and observed surveillance video from Dec. 1 and Dec. 2, which revealed a white Dodge Journey approach several houses and a woman from the vehicle take the packages and leave the area. When confronted by a resident, Gomez falsely identified herself as a delivery driver who made a mistake and continued to steal the packages, the release said.
On Dec. 8, the release said, Gomez was located by police driving with unrestrained children in her vehicle and she fled from the motor vehicle stop. She fled again, striking and injuring a Gloucester Township Police officer with her vehicle.
On Dec. 11, GOmez was taken into custody by U.S. Marshal Service in Monroe Township, and turned over to Gloucester Township Police for further investigation. She was processed and remanded to Camden County Jail near Trenton.
