JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman was injured after being struck by a stray bullet Sunday morning on the Westside, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.
Around 2 a.m., officers responded to the victim at 700 Edgewood Ave.
The victim, a woman in her 40s, took herself to a local hospital suffering non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The agency said she sustained a gunshot to the thigh, which grazed her.
Police said the victim was leaving a business when she was hit by gunfire in the parking lot. JSO said the gunshot was a stray bullet.
"We do not believe the victim was targeted," police said in a release.
The investigation is ongoing, police said. Detectives were still processing the crime scene Sunday morning.
