Man, woman shot in two separate, unrelated Jacksonville shootings

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the first shooting took place in the Oakleaf Plantation area while the second shooting took place in the Hogan's Creek area.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man and a woman were shot on Sunday in two separate, unrelated Jacksonville shootings, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

First shooting

In the first shooting, JSO's Sergeant Richardson says at approximately 5:06 a.m., officers responded to an apartment complex located in the 9800 block of Crosshill Boulevard in reference to an unidentified woman who was shot. When officers arrived, police say the woman was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Richardson says JSO's preliminary investigation reveals that there were individuals who were gathering in the parking lot and as the woman was leaving in an unknown vehicle, "several shots were fired in her direction, striking her in the arm."

Richardson further told First Coast News that several individuals were detained from the shooting and were brought to the Police Memorial Building in Downtown Jacksonville to be interviewed. In addition, detectives responded to the scene and were speaking with witnesses as well as were looking for surveillance video.

Second shooting

JSO's Sergeant Richardson says at approximately 8:51 a.m., in the 1000 block of West 8th Street in Jacksonville, a man was shot in the neck and was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Richardson says the preliminary investigation reveals that the unidentified man was waiting at a bus stop when an "unknown individual pulled up in a white four-door sedan." Police say a man got out the vehicle and fired several shots in the direction of the victim. JSO did not specify if whether or not they have the man who fired the shots, identified.

Anyone with information on either shooting, is asked to call JSO's non-emergency number at 904-630-0500 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
