Jacksonville sheriff responds to arrest of fourth suspect in Foolio's murder

Rashad Murphy was taken into custody after an hours-long standoff in the Oretga neighborhood.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Crews were out Tuesday afternoon cleaning up the broken glass from the SWAT standoff involving a suspect in Foolio's murder case.

Rashad Murphy was taken into custody at the Collins Preserve Apartments late Monday night into Tuesday morning. He is one of five suspects connected to the murder of Jacksonville rapper, Foolio, and the fourth to be arrested so far. Sheriff T.K. Waters said JSO and the U.S. Marshals service tracked Murphy to the apartments. They evacuated nearby residents before negotiating with him to surrender.

"The ultimate goal is to get him out, get him out safely. So use tear gas, whatever we need to do to get that arrest warrant effectively served," Waters explained.

JSO is still searching for Davion Murphy. According to police, he was one of the shooters that night of Foolio's murder, and he is a known gang member. They are asking the community to remain vigilant since he could be armed.

Waters had another warning Tuesday for anyone considering retaliation or using music to incite more violence.

"When you're talking about murdering people for clicks and people that have actually lost their lives to street violence, and there's mothers out there, and there's fathers out there, their siblings out there, that listen to you brag about taking someone else's life. I think it's trash," Waters said.

Rashad Murphy is facing a first degree murder charge. He will be taken to Tampa and prosecuted there. Waters said the suspects in this case will go through the entire court process and he hopes they will be sentenced to prison for a long time.
