JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville sheriff's officer went to the hospital with injuries from a crash Saturday, according to an accident report. The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to the hospital from the scene at the intersection of San Juan Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue.

The officer was driving east on San Juan Avenue with his lights and sirens on. The light was red when he crossed the intersection.

The other car was traveling northbound on Roosevelt Avenue with a green light.

The officer "failed to clear the intersection," the accident report says. He blocked the path of the other vehicle, causing the collision.

Airbags deployed in both cars. Both cars were reported to have "disabling" damage.

A homeowner nearby reported that a tire from the police car ended up in her fence. The crash report estimates the accident cost her $500 in damages.
