JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man has been arrested in connection to a string of recent robberies that have occurred in Northwest Jacksonville.
Lorenzo Spencer Kenon, 38, is facing armed robbery charges for his involvement in at least four recent incidents, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
On Wednesday, officers were patrolling in the 1200 block of Kings Road. While patrolling, an officer noticed a man walk inside a Family Dollar store and then exit about five or six minutes later "looking suspicious." Police then decided to follow the man to where his car was parked nearby.
As officers were following the vehicle they received a report that a robbery to a business had occurred in the same area.
Officers then activated their emergency lights in an attempt to get the vehicle to stop.
After driving for about half a mile, the suspect, later identified as Kenon got out of the vehicle and the vehicle crashed into another parked car, JSO said.
Kenon attempted to run away from officers but was quickly apprehended.
Police said there was a handful of employees and customers inside the store during the robbery. Fortunately, no one was injured.
After further investigation into the previous series of armed robberies, Kenon was charged with armed robbery in each of the four recent cases, police said.
