Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1500 block of Pullen Road and found 28-year-old Terrill Trumble dead at the scene from a shot to the head on July 24, according to an agency report.
A witness said Trumble was involved in an ongoing dispute with Conyers and the victim recently had his Xbox and shotgun stoeldn from his apartment. Two witnesses said they had last seen Trumble July 21 and July 22, the report said.
The report said Conyers took a handgun and a vehicle from a woman he had stayed with on July 22, returning them both July 24, according to the report. A 9 mm casing was retrieved from the murder scene, police said.
Conyers was also involved in a 2003 South Carolina homicide investigation, where he was charged with manslaughter. There was also a man shot with one bullet to the head, police stated.
"The circumstances of the 2003 homicide investigation are similar to the circumstances of the current homicide investigation," the report said.
Early in the investigation, Conyers was identified as a suspect, JSO said. On July 31, Conyers was arrested for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. While he was incarcerated, detectives continued to work on their homicide investigation.
