Shooting after dispute on the Northside leaves man in stable condition, police say

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the shooting occurred in the 3900 block of Spires Avenue at 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is in stable condition after he was shot following a dispute on the Northside Sunday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

At approximately 7:30 a.m., officers responded to the 3900 block of Spires Avenue in reference to an adult male being shot with non life-threatening injuries. The man was taken to a local hospital where he received surgery and was in stable condition.

The preliminary investigation revealed the victim and suspect were walking together down the street and "were involved in a verbal altercation," according to JSO.

When the argument escalated, the suspect drew a firearm, and fired a single shot at the victim's abdomen. The suspect fled the area in an unknown direction, JSO said. Detectives believe the shooting is an isolated incident, "where both individuals know each other."

JSO asks anyone with information about the incident to contact the sheriff’s office at 904-630-0500 or via email at jsocrimetips@jaxsheriff.org, or to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
