Man facing charges after bringing gun to Terry Parker High Friday, police say

Roy Taylor is accused of possessing a firearm on school property, resisting an officer without violence and trespassing on school grounds.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An 18-year-old man is in custody after police say he brought a gun to an Arlington high school.

A Jacksonville Sheriff's Office report said they received a report of a suspicious person on Terry Park High's campus wearing a black coat on a school bus around 1:50 p.m. Friday. The man, Roy Taylor, did not attend school and said he was there to escort his brother home, though police said they were not able to confirm if he had a sibling attending, the report said.

The report said Taylor asked to go to the bathroom and officers supervising heard fidgeting and a "clicking noise." An officer then noticed a firearm hit the tile and police recovered a handgun, police said.

Taylor resisted arrest when officers first encountered him and after the firearm was found, the report said.

Taylor was charged with possessing a firearm on school property, resisting an officer without violence and trespassing on school grounds.
