JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The man seen beating a Black woman at a BP Gas Station in Jacksonville on May 22, 2022, will be sentenced Friday.
Kevin Williamson, 61, has pleaded guilty to felony battery for attacking Rayme McCoy, 23. McCoy said she was pregnant at the time of the battery.
She said that Williamson, who is white, was yelling racial slurs at another person when she came into the store.
She told First Coast News at the time that she went to pay for her purchase and Williamson came up behind her. When she asked for space, he became agitated. He then began to repeatedly punch her.
"He came in after me and was basically yelling 'y'all kind, you need to go back where you came from,'" said McCoy. "I'm pushing his beers away from me and once I pushed the beers away from me, he started punching me in my head."
Felony battery is a third-degree felony and a defendant may be sentenced to up to five years in prison or five years of probation.
