JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A federal indictment said threats were made to President Joe Biden and former presidents Donald Trump and Barack Obama by a Jacksonville man.
Cody Angeli is facing three charges of threatening to injure. The tweets were sent May 4-8. He was arrested May 9.
The often profane threats also included Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Angeli frequently the CIA, FBI and the U.S. Navy. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Sen. Ted Cruz are also breifly mentioned.
"I'll kill @potus," one tweet said. "YOURE DEAD @POTUS," another read.
The federal indictment shows that agencies were able to ping a Jacksonville phone number to Angeli, who had his real name as his username.
A family told investigators that he believed Angeli suffers from bipolar schizophrenia and Angeli threatened his family. When investigators showed up at Angeli's residence he told them his thoughts were "stolen," he was God, and that he was President John F. Kennedy Jr., the indictment states.
Angeli told investigators he was exercising his First Amendment rights, the indictment said. He stated he did not want to harm anyone and declined mental health treatment. His next hearing is May 24.
