JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville man faces life in prison after he was convicted of attempted murder and other charges Wednesday night in connection to a March 2015 shooting, according to the State Attorney's Office.
Phillip Dewayne Burns, 47, was convicted of attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, the State Attorney's Office said.
In March 2015, police found the owner of Motor Maxx shot in the leg at the business, located on Atlantic Boulevard. Police said the owner hired Burns to paint a building but the two of them got into an argument over pay. Burns then shot the owner in the leg and fled the scene, the State Attorney's Office said.
Burns was captured nearby after the incident.
