JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An inmate died in the Duval County Jail Tuesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Detectives from JSO's Cold Case Unit came to the jail to investigate the death.
Timmothy Elwin Wright, 46, had been arrested for violating probation in late January 2024. According to JSO, he was on probation for an earlier charge for lewd and lascivious exhibition.
While incarcerated, he was deemed incompetent and was sentenced to go to a mental health treatment facility.
He remained at the Duval County Jail while he waiting to be taken to facility.
JSO says officers found Wright unresponsive in his cell and could not revive him. He was pronounced dead just after 6 a.m. His cause of death is being reviewed by the Medical Examiner's Office and has not been determined yet.
JSO says an investigation revealed there was no use of force incidents or known physical altercations with other inmates.
