JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Sheriff's Office are responding to a reported aggravated assault near the Avenues Mall Wednesday morning.
Witnesses are telling First Coast News the mall has been evacuated and police are at all entrances. The incident occurred in the parking lot, a source told First Coast News crime and safety analyst Mark Bachman.
Officers were dispatched to a reported aggravated assault, according to JSO. No victim or suspect has been located, police said.
Officers were on-scene and the agency said there was, " ... nothing identified that would indicate an active shooter anywhere in or around the mall."
This comes five days after the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to a man shot in the mall's parking lot Friday. Police said the shooter and victim got in an argument and after the shooting the victim ran back into the mall. The suspect fled in a silver SUV, police said. No arrest has been made.
