Three people have been officially indicted for the first-degree murder of Glen McNeil Jr., the 23-year-old who was murdered hours after the 4th of July fireworks at Jacksonville Beach back in 2017.
On Thursday, a grand jury indicted Darius Jackson, Kejuan Jones and Javoris Price for the incident that left 'Gleet' McNeil dead and one other injured.
- Darius Jackson, 17 at the time of the crime, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm by a juvenile delinquent.
- Kejuan Jones, who was 16 at the time of the crime, has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, armed robbery, and evidence tampering
- Javoris Price, 18 at the time of the crime, is charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, armed robbery, evidence tampering, and possession of a firearm by a juvenile delinquent.
Price entered three not guilty pleas in court back in 2017.
McNeil was shot and killed by the Seawalk Pavilion on 1st Street North around 1 a.m. on July 5. The case remained unsolved for months until police were able to charge Price in November 2017.
According to police, Price shot and killed Glen McNeil Jr. back on July 5, 2017. An arrest warrant was issued for Price's arrest, though he was already booked into the Duval County Jail on unrelated charges.
Hours after his death, his friends started a memorial at the corner of 1st Avenue N. and 1st Street N. Nearly a week later, the memorial for McNeil Jr. continued to grow, spilling close the sidewalk. The flowers, balloons, candles, and cards were are evidence he made a positive impact on many lives in his short years.
Since then, a brick has been laid in his honor.
