Glynn County man and woman charged with eight counts of animal cruelty, eight dogs recovered from home

Police say officers found at least 10 puppies buried in front yard stemming from the Dec. 1 arrests.

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. — A Glynn County man and woman are in custody after police said they abused numerous dogs at their home, a Glynn County Police Department release said.

Officers received a report that a juvenile that had sustained a black eye from his father, Cecil Mullins, at a Blain Street residence over a puppy. 

Cecil Mullins, 34, and Theresa Mullins, 41, were charged with cruelty to children, aggravated cruelty to animals and eight charges of animal cruelty.

The release said there were eight dogs living inside the residence and that one of the six adult dogs living inside the residence has had two litters of puppies and at least ten of the puppies are buried in the front yard. Theresa Mullins told investigators that one of the surviving puppies had a broken leg and that none of her eight dogs had received veterinary care in over three years, the release said.

On Dec. 1, investigators executed a search warrant for the home and eight dogs were removed by Glynn County Animal Control. One of the puppies had a large deep laceration to the neck and was taken to a vet for treatment, the release said. 

Police said they located one of the numerous buried puppies in the yard, excavated the remains and they determined the skull of the puppy was "obviously crushed."
