Waycross teen arrested for involuntary manslaughter in shooting death of 18-year-old, GBI says

Austin Pittman, 19, was arrested and charged with felony involuntary manslaughter and misdemeanor reckless conduct for the death of Landon Bashlor, 18, the GBI said.

WAYCROSS, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested a 19-year-old Waycross man in connection with the shooting death of another teen over the weekend, according to a Wednesday release.

The Ware County Sheriff's Office asked the GBI to investigate the death of 18-year-old Landon Bashlor after he was shot and killed on Sunday.

Austin Pittman, 19, was arrested and charged with felony involuntary manslaughter and misdemeanor reckless conduct in the death investigation, the release said.

The GBI said the investigation determined Pittman shot and killed Bashlor in the 3400 block of Albany Highway in Waycross.

Law enforcement responded to the scene after a 911 caller told officials that the teen was shot inside a vehicle.

When deputies arrived, they found Bashlor dead inside a car.

No additional details about the investigation were immediately provided.

A GBI medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the victim's cause of death.
