JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville man convicted of murder charges in connection with a deadly drive-by shooting was sentenced to life in prison Friday, according to the Fourth Circuit State Attorney's Office.

Demarcus Sharod Johnson, 25, was found guilty of second-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery charges last month, prosecutors said.

Johnson and two other men drove by a home on West 13th Street and opened fire, killing 23-year-old Bryan James Clemons and wounding 30-year-old Bobby Eady, prosecutors said. Ryan Williams, 23, who was targeted in the shooting, was not hurt, but was later killed during a separate incident.

Investigators determined the shooting was in response to a dispute at a club in which one of the victims tossed a drink in the face of one of the shooting suspects, prosecutors said.

Johnson also pleaded guilty this week to charges of violating racketeering laws and conspiracy to violate RICO for his involvement in a Grand Park gang, according to the State Attorney's Office. He was sentenced to five years in prison for that case.
