YULEE, Fla. -- Nassau County investigators used Backpage.com to arrest four women and charge them with prostitution in Yulee on Friday.
Four women allegedly agreed to meet with undercover detectives in hotel rooms at the Best Western after being contacted on Backpage.com and agreements were made to exchange sexual acts for money, according to the Nassau County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office says the women advertised their services in the Nassau County Area.
"The girls have ads and show scantily-clothed pictures. They give a name, a phone number and usually they tell how much for a half hour or a full hour," said Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper. "The sex business is just part of the crime - most are doing business to get money for drugs."
Four people were arrested for allegedly prohibiting prostitution and were booked into the Nassau County Jail:
• Solanch Yalene Dewey, 21, Jacksonville, Charged with prohibiting prostitution and related acts
• Stephanie Amber Coursey, 20, Neptune Beach, Charged with prohibiting prostitution and related acts, outstanding warrant for grand theft and dealing in stolen property
• Krystal Maria Peeler, 32, from Jacksonville, Charged with prohibiting prostitution and related acts, drug paraphernalia, outstanding warrant for grand theft
• Jamie Lea Stewart, 26, from Jacksonville, Charged with prohibiting prostitution
