Former WWE star Tamara 'Sunny' Sytch sentenced to over 17 years for causing deadly DUI crash

A State Attorney described Sytch's history of drinking and driving as "horrendous" and said she was "death on wheels."

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — A WWE Hall of Famer will spend more than 17 years in prison for causing a deadly crash in March 2022 while driving drunk in Ormond Beach.

Tamara Sytch, 50, who is known in the wrestling world for performing under the name 'Sunny,' pleaded no contest in August to DUI manslaughter, four counts of DUI with damage to person and two counts of DUI with damage to property. Sytch was sentenced Monday to 17 and a half years in prison followed by eight years probation.

On March 25, 2022, while driving under the influence on North Yonge Street in Ormond Beach, Sytch crashed into the back of a vehicle at high speed that was stopped at a red light, killing the driver and injuring four other people in a separate vehicle, a release from the Florida State Attorney's Office said.

The 75-year-old driver died at the hospital and the other victims, who were inside a stopped vehicle in front of the vehicle involved, suffered minor injuries.

Sytch's blood alcohol level an hour after the crash was between 0.32 and 0.34, which is more than four times the legal limit. Law enforcement also found an unsealed bottle of vodka in her vehicle and marijuana in her system after the crash.

A prosecutor on Sytch's case described her history of drinking and driving as "horrendous" and said Sytch was "death on wheels."

"It was only a matter of time before her drunk driving killed an innocent and unsuspecting individual," said State Attorney R.J. Larizza.

Ormond Beach Police Chief Jesse Godfrey said he hoped the ruling could ease the pain for the victim's loved ones, and commended the hard work of his officers.

"I am proud of the team that helped get this dangerous and reckless person off of our streets," said Godfrey.
