Fleming Island man indicted for damaging Capitol property on Jan. 6

FLEMING ISLAND, Fla. — A man from Fleming Island has been indicted and arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges for damaging property at the U.S. Capitol during the January 6 riots. He was arrested by the FBI on Friday. 

Marcus Smith, 47, is charged with felony destruction of property, as well as aiding and abetting crime. He is also charged with several misdemeanors, including physical violence in the Capitol grounds or buildings, and parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building. 

Smith's indictment says he damaged a door at the Capitol building, causing damage that costs more than $1000 to repair.
