PALM COAST, Fla. — A Palm Coast man and woman were arrested after a road rage incident Tuesday, where Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputies said the suspects pointed weapons at a van while they were on a motorcycle.
Gregg Pacheco, 53, and Amy Pacheco, 46, were arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill. Gregg Pacheco was on misdemeanor probation for a previous reckless driving conviction and was additionally charged with violation of probation, the sheriff's office said.
At approximately 5:35 p.m. on June 11, deputies responded to Palm Coast Parkway, according to a press release. Dispatchers received a call about a man riding a motorcycle heading westbound on the Hammock Dunes Toll Bridge who had pointed a firearm at the victim, and that a woman passenger on the motorcycle had flashed a baton. The victim reported he man smashed his side window.
The suspects reportedly made threats to kill the victim, the sheriff's office said.
Deputies determined to be registered to the Pachecos. Deputies went to their Palm Coast residence where they saw the motorcycle in the garage. Numerous attempts to contact them were unsuccessful, police said. A search warrant for the home was issued for the residence and two two firearms were found: a Glock 27 .40 Caliber and a Glock 43X 9mm.
Both suspects were arrested and were taken to the hospital, the sheriff's office said. When investigators interviewed both suspects, they "confessed to various elements of the incident," according to deputies.
“The victim in this situation did the right thing by reporting the incident and letting our deputies handle this dangerous situation. Drivers need to remember to control their anger and actions. Road rage will only lead you to the Green Roof Inn, especially if there’s a gun involved,” Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly stated. “Irresponsible and angry drivers have no place in Flagler County. Hopefully they will take our anger management course in the jail or be required to by the court.”
