FHP searching for vehicle involved in hit-and-run that left 61-year-old pedestrian dead

The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for a dark colored pickup truck with damage to the front right side, possibly a Ford F-150, involved in a fatal crash Sunday.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is asking for help locating a vehicle of interest involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian dead Sunday morning.

Troopers say at approximately 2:56 a.m. Sunday, a dark colored pickup truck was traveling south on US-1 north of Harrell Street in the outside lane.

A 61-year-old man was walking in the outside shoulder when the truck failed to maintain control of the vehicle and veered into the shoulder, striking the pedestrian, according to FHP.

The impact from the crash forced the pedestrian onto the sidewalk southwest of US-1 and south of Harrell Street.

After the crash, the truck fled the scene driving south, FHP says.

Troopers say the truck involved could be a Ford F-150 and would have extensive damage to its front right side.
