FHP: Florida man crashes stolen mail truck while trying to flee police

FHP says 29-year-old Jesse A. Estep was driving north on Interstate-95 while trying to elude law enforcement when he crashed the Chevy mail truck at mile marker 281.

A man from South Daytona, Florida reportedly crashed a stolen mail truck in Flagler County while trying to flee law enforcement, according to a report from Florida Highway Patrol.

At 5:05 p.m., FHP says 29-year-old Jesse A. Estep was driving north on Interstate-95 while trying to elude law enforcement when he crashed the Chevy mail truck at mile marker 281.

The crash happened when Estep attempted to avoid the stop sticks placed by police, the report says. The mail truck ran off the roadway to the left, causing Estep to over-correct the truck. The truck then overturned and came to a stop in a grassy area off the shoulder.

Estep sustained minor injuries, according to FHP.

Estep has a lengthy arrest history with Volusia County, where he's reportedly from. His criminal record dates back to 2009 and includes burglary, battery, assaulting a cop and resisting arrest, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office website.
