Driver accused in DUI crash at Castillo de San Marcos facing new charges

Shannon King is accused of hitting 2 women near the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument. In addition to her DUI charges, she now faces reckless driving charges.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A St. Johns County woman was arrested again for a DUI crash that severely injured two women near the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument.

Shannon King, 21, is facing two new charges of felony reckless driving causing serious bodily injury. Her bond was set at $50,000. She has posted bond, jail records show. 

These additional charges stem from newly obtained surveillance videos. 

King was previously charged with driving under the influence, DUI crash involving serious bodily injury and DUI crash involving property damage.

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, witnesses near the scene saw the car speeding when it struck the two women,  who were walking on the sidewalk.

The car then continued into a nearby parking lot, hitting a sign and parking kiosk.

The victims are still recovering in the hospital.
