PALM COAST, Fla. — A Honduran man living in Palm Coast is facing federal charges after he was found "illegally" in the country on July 18, according to the Department of Justice's Middle District of Florida.

Teofilo Molina-Espinoza, 39, was indicted on illegal reentry by a deported alien and failure to register as a sex offender, according to the DOJ.

In February 2012, the indictment states Molina-Espinoza was convicted of child sex crimes on a child between 12 and 16 years old.

"He was deported from the United States to Honduras on April 16, 2012, but was found to be back in the United States illegally on July 18, 2024," a press release from the DOJ states. "Additionally, after returning to the United States, Molina-Espinoza failed to register as a sex offender as required by the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act."

If Molina-Espinoza is convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in federal prison, investigators say.

This case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the United State Marshals Service, the release states.
