Deputies release video of Tuesday's shooting on I-95 in St. Johns County

Witnesses called 911 describing a man travelling in car shooting at another car with an AR-15 type gun.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office released video showing the moments before and after a shooting Tuesday on I-95 in St. Johns County.

In the video, a red car speeds up next to a white car. For a few seconds the two cars are travelling next to each other.

A few seconds later, the white car is hit by bullets and veers into the center median. In the video, a flash can be seen from the driver's side rear window.

About 20 seconds after the shooting, the red car can be seen speeding down the highway.

Investigators say they are still looking for the red car.

First Coast News also obtained 911 calls from two witnesses who saw the shooting. Witnesses told police they saw four men in the red car with masks on.

“He was shooting probably an AR-15 with 30 rounds, I probably counted 30 shots," one witness said.

“He had like an M-4 he put it out the window started shooting the cars behind him," another witness said.

One of the victims also called 911.

“We on the highway! Someone shot us! We shot we need help,” a woman said during the call.

The woman said a man she was in the car with was shot.

"He got shot in his back how far you are? They’re going to come back and finish killing me," the woman said.

The man was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition and the woman suffered minor injuries.

First Coast News asked police for an update on the victim's condition. Deputies say they will not provide updates on their condition out of respect for the victim's privacy.

Investigators said they have no evidence suggesting this is road rage but did say there is public concern given the shooting happened on a busy stretch of highway.
