Daycare worker charged with molesting kids
Rodney Romelus is charged with two counts of lewd or lascivious molestation for allegedly fondling two children under the age of 12.

ID=24749985JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 19-year-old daycare worker accused last month of molesting two children in his care now faces felony charges.

Rodney Romelus is charged with two counts of lewd or lascivious molestation for allegedly fondling two children under the age of 12.

An arrest report from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office doesn't specify how Romelus came to be supervising the children. However, Department of Children and Families spokesperson John Harrell tells First Coast News that the incidents happened at Kings Kids Christian Learning, adjacent to Whitehouse Aseembly Church of God, on Chaffee Road South.

The department contacted JSO Feb. 9 and informed child investigators of the allegations against Romelus, according to the report. DCF interviewed the children Feb. 16.

Both children told investigators they had been watching movies "at the daycare" when Romelus asked them to sit with him. That's when he put his hands underneath their underwear, the report said.

Romelus was arrested March 6. He's being held in the Duval County Jail without bond.

The next court date for Romelus is March 30, according to jail records.
