Correctional officer shoots at spouse, threatens to shoot spouse's child, Lake City police say

The officer also threatened to shoot his spouse's child, according to police.

LAKE CITY, Fla. — A correctional officer in Lake City was arrested Sunday night after shooting at his spouse twice and threatening to shoot his spouse's child, the Lake City Police Department said.

Police received a call from a neighbor of the victim, who reportedly told officers there was an argument between Park, 37, and his spouse, the victim, and that Park had made threats to shoot his spouse.

When officers arrived, they surrounded the house and ordered Park to exit the home and walk toward them. As Park approached officers, police said he stopped and said he would not walk any further, refusing additional orders to do so.

Park ran away from officers when he saw their tasers, according to the department, but they were able to subdue him without an additional incident.

Further investigation revealed Park had a gun and physically struck the victim multiple times and fired the gun at the victim twice, Lake City PD said.

Park was transported to the Columbia County Detention Facility and charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated child abuse and firing a weapon on residential property.

Because of Marsy's Law, the name of the victim and the relationship between Park and the child has been withheld.

The police department did not specify where Park was employed as a correctional officer. First Coast News reached out for clarification.
