CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A man has been arrested in connection to an investigation involving the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and a psychedelic drug lab in Keystone Heights.
Sheriff Michelle Cook with the Clay County Sheriff's Office and the DEA held a news conference Monday to announce the arrest of Cody Clifford, 40.
"This investigation began with two border seizures of mescaline by Homeland Security...," said Cook. "Mescaline is a schedule one narcotic with hallucinogenic effects."
Cook says it was discovered that the intercepted shipments were scheduled for delivery to a residence on Deer Springs Road in Keystone Heights. On March 19, detectives went to that home and reportedly discovered a "DMT extraction lab."
DMT, or Dimethyltryptamine, is a chemical substance used as a recreational psychedelic drug.
Detectives also found chemicals that can be used to make other drugs, ammunition and guns.
Clifford was charged with possession of LSD, hashish and cultivation of marijuana. Additional charges are pending.
