JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A minor was shot and killed Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville, the sheriff's office announced.
The shooting took place at an apartment complex in the Hogan's Creek area near UF Health. Police responded to the area just before 4 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found a boy suffering from "at least" one gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital where he ultimately died from his injuries.
Officers detained one person at the scene and took them in for questioning. As of Saturday night, JSO does not yet know the circumstances surrounding the shooting or relationships of those involved.
The sheriff's office did say this appears to be an isolated incident with no threat to the public.
