BAKER COUNTY, Fla. — A babysitter has been arrested after the baker County Sheriff's Office into allegations of physical abuse occurring at a home in Glen St. Mary against an 8-year-old child.
On Jan. 16, the sheriff's office was made aware of the victim’s injuries after being noticed by healthcare professionals in Lake City.
While detectives gathered the necessary facts and evidence, the child did not return to the home, according to deputies. A search warrant of the residence was conducted Friday morning where the incident occurred, including interviews of all the adults living in the home.
Based on evidence collected and statements made during the interviews, Charlene Ellis was arrested and charged with child abuse, the sheriff's office said.
According to BCSO, the Department of Children & Families worked alongside deputies throughout the investigation.
