Atlantic Beach Elementary School was placed under a brief Code Yellow lockdown Tuesday afternoon due to police activity nearby, district officials say.
Three suspects allegedly bailed out of a stolen vehicle on Seminole Road, not far from the school, and as police searched for the suspects the lockdown was put in place as a precaution, says Laureen Ricks, spokesperson for Duval County Public Schools.
Ricks says the school has since returned to normal operations.
Atlantic Beach Police say they were able to catch the driver of the reportedly stolen vehicle, but that two passengers are still on the run.
