JACKSONVILLE, Fla — An armed robbery in the Baymeadows neighborhood ended with one person dead Friday evening, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
JSO said the reported robbery happened in the 9000 Block of Baymeadows Road around 4 p.m.
While responding to the scene officers observed a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle's description in the robbery around Baymeadows Road and I-95.
As soon as the suspect vehicle noticed the officers they began fleeing the area, making officers pursue them.
The vehicle continued to the 8000 block of Baymeadows Way where officers successfully conducted a PIT maneuver, which is a tactic police use to stop a fleeing vehicle, JSO said.
After using this tactic, two of the three suspects tried to run away but were quickly apprehended.
The driver and third suspect was found unresponsive inside the vehicle and pronounced dead on scene, according to police.
JSO said he appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound prior to police approaching the vehicle. It is unclear at this time how and at what point the suspect may have been shot.
This is a key point in the investigation and the two suspects taken into custody are being interviewed so officers can find out more information.
The suspect's cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner's office.
At no time during the incident did officers fire any of their weapons.
The two suspects remain in custody as the investigators continue to investigate the robbery.
