Man hospitalized after being shot in chest, arm, finger on Jacksonville's Westside, police say

JSO says the man in his 50s, was involved in an "unknown type of altercation" when he was shot in the chest, arm and finger.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is recovering at a Jacksonville hospital Wednesday after he was shot multiple times on Jacksonville's Westside Tuesday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO's Sergeant Richardson  says at approximately 11:25 p.m., officers responded to a local hospital in reference to the man in his 50s, who walked in with gunshot wounds.

Police say the unidentified man is in critical, but stable condition.

Richardson says JSO's preliminary investigation reveals that the man was in the 5500 block of Catoma Street when he was involved in an "unknown type of altercation" and was shot in the chest, arm and finger.

Richardson says JSO does not have suspect information at this time and are currently in the process of canvassing the area, looking for video surveillance as well as speaking to any possible witnesses.
