NASSAU COUNTY, Fla — Nine people were arrested for driving under the influence over Memorial Day weekend, according to the Nassau County Sheriff's Office.
The arrests come after 317 traffic stops throughout the county over the holiday weekend.
The sheriff's office said it also issued hundreds of citations as a result of those traffic stops.
"This is an important reminder to plan ahead for a sober ride especially if you plan to drink," the sheriff's office said on Facebook.
The sheriff's office encourages people to designate a non-drinking driver or call a non-drinking friend to drive as a backup.
"Drinking and getting behind the wheel can cost you more than just jail time or court fees. It can cost you or another person their life," Sheriff Bill Leeper said.
