SAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco 49ers first-round draft pick Ricky Pearsall was shot Saturday in an attempted robbery at Union Square in San Francisco.
San Francisco Mayor London Breed says police arrested the shooter immediately. In a Saturday night press conference, law enforcement described the shooter as a 17-year-old from Tracy.
“My thoughts are with Ricky and his family at this time. We will provide more updates, including on his condition, as I receive them,” said Breed on X.
A statement from the San Francisco 49ers says Pearsall was shot in the chest and is currently in serious but stable condition.
The teen accused of shooting Pearsall was also shot in the attempted robbery and he's in stable condition.
Pearsall was drafted in the first round by the 49ers in the 2024 NFL draft after playing for the University of Florida.
