JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — What started as a burglary in St. Johns County led to a multi-county police chase, ending with the arrests of four people in Orlando Friday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said the incident began as a burglary case out of St. Johns County. A BOLO was issued in Flagler County for a suspect vehicle involved in the burglary, FHP said.

A trooper spotted the suspect vehicle traveling in the northbound lanes of State Road 417 from State Road 528, FHP said. The trooper initiated a pursuit of the vehicle, which then "began to actively flee."

The Orange County Sheriff's Office Chase then followed the fleeing vehicle, but law enforcement "lost visual" of the vehicle after it entered a parking garage near the University of Central Florida campus. Troopers said the driver fled the suspect vehicle on foot.

Later, troopers announced that four arrests were made in conjunction with the case. Maurice Campbell, 27, of Miramar; Winston McKnight, 25, of Sunrise; Ronald Vassell, 27, of Lauderhill and Madison Rodriguez, 20 of Hialeah, were booked into the Orange County Jail, according to FHP.

Our news partners WESH 2 News reported Campbell, McKnight and Vassell face charges of resisting an officer without violence, while Rodriguez faces a felony aiding escape charge.

Troopers said evidence suggested there may be another suspect, an adult man, involved in the incident.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office was on-scene processing the suspect vehicle identified as a 2024 Chevy Equinox for evidence, according to FHP.
