Sheriff: 2 women arrested after drug investigation at Starke Sonic

The Sonic on South Temple Avenue in Starke will remain closed until further notice.

STARKE, Fla. — Two women are facing charges after a Sonic in Starke was searched as part of an ongoing drug investigation, according to the Bradford County Sheriff's Office.

On Friday, deputies issued a search warrant at the Sonic located at 825 South Temple Ave. and said the restaurant would be closed until further notice.

Two women were arrested on drug charges after the search. 

Kaitlyn Watkins, 28, faces charges of child neglect without great bodily harm and two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance. Madison Loftis, 22, faces one felony count of possession of a controlled substance.

Police did not say if the women were employees at the Sonic.

Bradford County Sheriff Gordon Smith said that the property was released back to the owners, but they plan to keep the restaurant closed. It is unclear when, or if it will reopen.

Loftis was released from the Bradford County Jail on bond Saturday morning and Watkins was released Saturday night, according to jail records.

The investigation remains ongoing.
