JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville police are investigating a shooting that happened Sunday afternoon in the city's Carver Manor area that left two people hurt.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, at approximately 2:15 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to the 5900 block of Mississippi Court in reference to a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. Crews with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department took the victim to the hospital in life-threatening condition where he is undergoing emergency surgery, police said.
As investigators were securing the scene, they learned of a second victim who was hurt in the shooting.
Police believe both victims were shot by the same suspect on Mississippi Court, but the second victim was able to flee to a neighboring street on Rhode Island Drive where they were able to get help.
Rescue crews responded to that scene and took the victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to the neck, to the hospital where they are in stable condition, according to police.
At this time, it is unclear what led to the shooting and detectives are canvasing the area for possible video surveillance that could have captured the incident.
No suspect is currently in police custody and police are working to identify additional suspect information.
