2 arrested in connection to armed robbery at Interlachen home

The robbery caused police to tell residents to stay in their homes Sunday evening while they searched for the suspects.

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — Two men are facing charges in connection with an armed robbery at an Interlachen Lake Estates residence over the weekend, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

The arrests come after a search for one of the suspects over the weekend caused major law enforcement activity in the area, prompting police to advise residents to stay in their homes.

Deputies first responded to an armed robbery on Janet Avenue on Sunday where they pursued Adam Boyd at the scene. Boyd fled from a deputy and crashed his truck on Annette Avenue, causing damage to another car, PCSO said. Police say he ran his car through a fence and into a yard during the crash.

This is when police said Boyd was able to get out of the car and run away, which led to the manhunt that trapped residents inside Sunday.

The victim told police that Boyd and a second suspect, later identified as Tray Choate, 22, approached him as he was walking outside the home on Janet Avenue. He said Boyd and Choate had seen him with cash, and they punched him and told him to give him his wallet. During the attempted robbery, the victim says Boyd hit him in the stomach with a barrel of a gun.

Boyd agreed to come and speak with police Tuesday, PCSO said. After he told them his ride "needed to stop at the tire outlet," a deputy arrived at the store and arrested him.

Boyd is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, robbery with a firearm, gran theft and grand theft of a firearm. His bond is set at $65,000.

Choate is charged with fleeing and eluding law enforcement and leaving the scene of a crash involving damage. His bond is set at $11,000.
