JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 16-year-old boy was shot on the Eastside Friday afternoon, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, making it the third shooting of the day.
JSO responded to the shooting at 3130 Bridier Street at around 1:42 p.m.
Upon arriving at the scene, police found the teen outside a residence suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Police were searching for a white Nissan Altima in connection to the case, but have since called off the search, saying criminal intent is no longer believed to be involved.
Police are also gathering security footage and interviewing the victim and witnesses.
About 10 minutes before the Eastside shooting was reported, police were investigating another shooting in the 4100 block of Crownwood Drive on the Southside.
Two men were injured in a shoot out that happened in Durkeeville Friday afternoon according to The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
JSO has not confirmed if the shootings are connected.
