Burglary following house parties leads to loss of $80K in jewelry

PONTE VEDRA, Fla. --- St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is investigating a home burglary involving the theft of approximately $80,000 worth of jewelry and silverware, according to deputies.

The theft occurred in the 100 block of Myrtle Brook Bend in Ponte Vedra.

The homeowner told police that she went on vacation to Hawaii for 11 days and when she returned, she noticed that a large number of personal items had gone missing, according to authorities. She also claimed that while she was away, her son hosted two house parties.

The victim noted that she had spoken to the son's friends who were in attendance at the parties and none of them claimed to know who stole the jewelry, according to a media release. She completed a written affidavit that alleged that she had offered the friends a $2,000 reward if they came forward with the items that were stolen.

Deputies also spoke to the son and the son's friends. There are currently no suspects at this time, according to deputies.
