The Texas-based mega-convenience store, Buc-ee's, is anticipating an opening date sometime next year in St. Johns County, a spokesperson confirmed with First Coast News on Friday.
Despite plans of beginning construction in May on the 14-acres of land near Interstate 95 and World Golf Village, the spokesperson said they ran into minor issues, which is causing a delay.
The spokesperson did say construction will begin soon and that they are targeting an opening date between mid-to-late 2020.
Several homeowners in the area have protested the store's opening, but plans continue to move forward for that location.
The St. Johns County location may span about 52,600 square feet and have about 120 gas pumps. Buc-ee’s generally do not allow 18-wheelers to fill up on gas there, as they are more for personal vehicles.
