Boy Scout volunteer arrested for battery/molestation following camping trip

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- A volunteer from a Boy Scouts camping trip has been arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious molestation and simple battery.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- A volunteer from a Boy Scouts camping trip has been arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious molestation and simple battery.

Stinson Lenkerd, 75, was arrested after a camping trip that occurred on Friday September 16 through Sunday September 18.

According to the police report, Lenkerd was volunteering as an Aquatics Director at Camp Echockotee in Orange Park. During this camping trip, Stinson slapped one boy on the butt once, then another on the butt twice.

Later during the trip, the boys were laying in their hammocks and Stinson approached them and once more slapped them on the butt, but one incident of this depicts a more graphic groping.

Stinson allowed his cell phone to be searched, there were eight photos found on his phone of the camping trip. Four of the photos were of the scouts including the boys in question, two of those photos of one of the boys in their hammock.

He has bonded out.

The Boy Scouts of America has released the following statement regarding the arrest of Lenkerd:


“The health, safety and protection of Scouting’s members is our top priority. Upon learning of the incidents from last weekend’s camping trip, law enforcement was notified immediately.
Mr. Lenkerd’ s membership was revoked and he has been removed from all involvement with Scouting. There is no place in Scouting for the behavior alleged by Mr. Lenkerd.”
