'A loving person': Family of Jacksonville triple shooting victim speaks

The family of the 21-year-old who was killed off Plymouth Road Tuesday night want answers.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The family of the woman who was killed in Tuesday night's triple shooting in Jacksonville are speaking out and demanding justice.

Tamika Wolfe-McKenzie told First Coast News her cousin, Da'Mya Greene, was killed Tuesday night in the parking lot of a shopping mall on the corner of Plymouth St. and Labelle St. She said Greene was 21 years old and had just started working at a hair salon in the shopping center.

"She was very energetic, fun to be around. She loved going shopping. She loved to do hair" Wolfe-McKenzie said.

Wolfe-McKenzie said they are still waiting for more answers from police, but witnesses told her a group of people showed up to the parking lot and ambushed her outside of the salon. According to JSO, three people, including Greene, were shot. The other two victims were able to drive themselves to the hospital that night.

Wolfe-McKenzie said the family is still in shock.

"She just was such a loving person. I don't know why this would happen to her. And whoever did it, they should be ashamed to take an innocent 21-year-old. You had no remorse," Wolfe-McKenzie said.

While the family waits for justice, Wolfe-McKenze wants something to be done about the crime in the area. She runs Tamika's School of Epicure, an organization that aims to empower kids with a passion for cooking. She wants to expand and provide more services in the neighborhood.

"I would like to provide the community out here with mental health resources every day of the week. We would like to help them with job training, so we can get them where they need to be upstanding citizens in the community. So it's a lot for our youth, they shouldn't be afraid to come outside. We should have programs out here every day. So we can pour into our youth," Wolfe-McKenzie explained.

JSO is still investigating the shooting. If you have any information call JSO at (904)-630-0500, email JSOCRIMETIPS@Jaxsheriff.org, or call Crimestoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
