JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- First Coast News has learned that Florida Blue plans to cut around 150 positions from its nearly 11,000 person workforce.
The not-for-profit health care company says the cuts are necessary in order to lower the overall cost of doing business.
Florida Blue public relations director Paul Kluding tells FCN that the company is working with impacted employees to help them find opportunities elsewhere in the company.
Kluding did not know how many of layoffs were slated to occur at the Jacksonville headquarters.
Company officials say the cuts are not anticipated to impact health care services.
It is estimated that Florida Blue and its affiliates serve more than 15 million people in 16 states.
Florida Blue expects to notify effected employees this week.
