Northeast Florida McDonald's stores hiring 2,000 workers, offering education, free food

The jobs come with support for continuing education and career advancement.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — (Note: The video above is from an unrelated report.)

McDonald's locations across Northeast Florida are looking to add 2,000 new full- and part-time employees.

According to a news release from McDonald's, the jobs come with support for continuing education and career advancement. Job perks include education benefits for a high school diploma, English as a second language classes, tuition assistance and guidance from career advisors through the company's "Archways to Opportunity" program at participating restaurants.

New this year, McDonald's has partnered with Western Governors University to provide employees and their families a 5% discount on tuition, as well as access to scholarships allowing workers to attend the school for little to no cost, according to the news release.

Employees working at restaurants participating in "Archways to Opportunity" can also receive a free associate's or bachelor's degree from Colorado Technical University, as well as a free laptop for their studies, the release says.

“People are the heart of our business, and the skills our crew members learn in our restaurants, like responsibility, teamwork and responsiveness, can open the door to a brighter future,” McDonald's Owner/Operator Raphael Vazquez, said in the release. “As local business owners, we’re committed to empowering our employees and the communities we serve.”

Additional benefits include free meals and paid time off.
